FUN GAMES WITH THE KNIGHTS AND LADIES OF MARSHALL

On the 16th of November 2010, we organised fun games to be held jointly with the Knights and Ladies of Marshall of Queen of Peace. We all left the parish compound around 8 a.m. in a large bus and headed towards the Atomic Sports field. All were excited because Brothers and Sisters had been training towards this. On arrival our Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Lt. Guy Amedee gave us his blessing and we divided into groups. Games played were Football (Soccer) Volly Ball, Basket Ball, Hand Ball, Skipping, Ludo, Dominoes etc.

There was excitement when teams were in the peak of play. There was a mini agape with lots of food and drink and the day ended on a joyful note. Both the groups enjoyed the day and promised to repeat it again.

New Benches for Queen of Peace Grotto

As part of the 5th Anniversary celebrations, the Order presented 8 blue and white benches to the Queen of Peace Church Grotto. These were received by the Parish Chairman, Mr.Michael Kwarteng after Mass and were very much appreciated by all. We also donated large laminated stations of the cross pictures and GHC700.00.

Beheading of St. John the Baptist

Thanksgiving Mass was held on the 29th of August at Queen of Peace Church to remember this day. Members of Commandery #604, Cadet Commandery #604, Ladies Auxiliay #510 and Junior Auxiliary #143 attended second Mass in their Numbers.

We remembered our Patron Saint with prayers and requested Holy Mass for him. May we live to follow in his footsteps to proclaim the coming of our Lord.

Supreme Convention 2010

On the 18th of July 2010 to the 24th of July 2010, some Sisters of Queen of Peace Ladies Auxiliary #510 and a Junior of #143 attended the Supreme Convention in the United states. Here is a picture from the memorable event.

MARIAN RALLY 2010

The Marian Rally organised yearly in the month of Our Mother Mary by Accra District 4 Ladies Auxiliary and Battalion 2 Commandery was hosted this year by Queen of Peace Ladies Auxiliary. Sisters and Brothers from the seven Auxiliaries in the District and their Commanderies attended in their numbers. The participants marched while praying the rosary and singing for about three and a half km around Madina township from IPS junction to the Church premises. The theme "Blessed are you among Women" was part of the Homily of the day when Holy Mass was celebrated. Here we see some pictures from the event.

Sacrament of Matrimony

Saturday 8th May 2010 was a joyous occasion for our own Brother Ikenna Uzonwanne and Miss Charity Ganye. The wedding ceremony was splended and the reception was enjoyed by all. Brothers and Sisters turned out in their numbers and full military honours were accorded them. Below we see two pictures from the day. Family and friends came from as far as Nigeria and Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana to celebrate with them.

5TH ANNIVERSARY PROGRAMMES

VARIOUS ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN PLANNED TO CELEBRATE THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY

On the 18th of April at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Adenta and on the 16th May at the St. Monica's Catholic Church Adjiringano, we held outreach programmes dealing with the topic "Healthy Life Styles". The first talk was given by Dr.Siriboe and the second by Dr. Kplomedo. Parishioners were very pleased with the information given and there were questions asked.

On the 29th of May we had a wonderful and exciting trip to the Ho Leprosarium, in the Volta Region to make a donation to the patients of cash and gift items.
We visited Bishop Lodonu at his residence.

On the 30th of May, we went to Tokokoe also in the Volta Region to make a presentation of an Altar for the local Catholic Church there. This was received by Bishop Lodonu who was the main celebrant. Fifty four Brothers and Sisters attended the programme.

Also in August we organised a talk on Breast, Cervical and Prostate Cancer. The resource person came from Ridge Hospital, Accra. Parishioners attended in their numbers and many questions were asked. All in all this was very successful.

A blood donation exercise was also organised by the Order at the Parish. Many youth donated blood for the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Blood Bank and the whole Parish was involved.

5th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass

On the 7th of May 2010 our Auxiliary will be five years old and to kick-start the Anniversary, we attended Holy Mass  on the 5th of May. Here we see group pictures of the Brothers, Cadets and Juniors who attended the Holy Mass.

Our Noble Sisters

The Queen of Saints Degree is the highest honour bestowed on members of the Ladies Auxiliary who are in good standing and have served the Order faithfully for a minimum of twenty years. The Degree gives recognition to members for their sacrifices to the upliftment of the ideals of the Order and the mother Church. On the 1^st of May 2010 two Sisters from our Auxiliary were part of the investiture of about 230 Sisters. The two Sisters, now Noble Sister Maude Dorothy Asamoah (left) and Noble Sister Cecilia Appinn Wilson (right)are seen here with the Respected President and Respected Past President/District 4 President after the investiture. We wish them many more blessings

Consecration Ceremony of Most Rev.Kumordji

On the 17th and 18th April 2010, Officers of Queen of Peace Commandery #604 and Auxiliary#510 attended the consecration ceremony of the newly elevated Titular Bishop of Ita and First Apostolic Vicar of Donkorkrom in the Afram Plains, Eastern Region. Here we see the new Bishop Most Rev Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD together with Col John Klu and District 4 Respected President Felicia Klu to the left; Worthy President James Klu and 1st Vice President, Albert Gyaney to the right and Captain David d'Almeida to the centre.

LENTEN RETREAT- 2010

As part of our Lenten Spiritual Programme our Commandery and Auxiliary joined with Brothers and Sisters of the 3rd District Commandery on the 27th of February to The Franciscan Valley of Prayer and Silence in Saltpond in the Central Region.

We all met at the church premises at dawn and by 6.00 am we were on our way. There was a welcome speech and a talk on repentance and the cardinal and venial sins and how to atone for them. We had Confession and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and then we went for a walk following the way of the Cross. All 14 Stations of the Cross were completed up a ruggedly hill and even to the real life size tomb. After this we went on a steep climb depicting the way to heaven. This was an experience on how difficult the journey in life to paradise is. The joy and happiness when we reached the top was evident in the faces of the pilgrims and the view of Gods creation before us, the hills, valley, sea, horizon, landscape and forest was amazing, especially to those of us who lived in cities.

We came back down from the breathtaking view and Holy Mass was celebrated by three priests. The 3rd District Commandery and District 4 Ladies Auxiliary made a presentation of Ghc1,200 to the Conventual Franciscan friars who are in charge of the Valley.

We had light snacks and made our way back in a convoy. What a spiritual day it was.

INITIATION OF SISTERS/NEW CADET OFFICERS

Eleven new Sisters were initiated into Queen of Peace Ladies Auxiliary and there was jubilation and joy on the 13th of February.

Annual Party

On the 30th of January 2010, we held our annual party at the Akapulko Restaurant in Madina. Brothers and Sisters had picked from a secret bag the names of those to whom they would give gifts and that evening they came up and presented their gifts to secret partners. Food, Music and Drink were an abundance. Everyone had a great time and we danced into the night giving thanks for another year together.

Marriage of a Brother and Sister

The was joy all around when Sister Felicia Amoah of Queen of Peace Ladies Aux #510 was married to Noble Captain John Aniglo on Saturday 23rd January 2010. Brother Aniglo is the Accra Grand Cadet Organizer, The Inspector of Chevaliers - A.W.T.P and 2nd Vice Commander of Battalion I. Sister Felicia is an active member of the Queen of Peace Ladies Drill Team. There was a full turnout and the Cadets of Queen of Peace Cadet Commandery #604 and Juniors of #143 gave a beautiful Foot Drill Display. We wish the happy couple a happy and spirit filled marriage

Annual Christmas Charity 4th December 2009

On the first Friday in December the Brothers and Sisters kick started the Christmas season by sending out parcels of food and household items to 64 sick and aged in the Parish. This was done during the Communion rounds by the Parish priests. Members also accompanied the priests during their rounds and this was very successful. During his homily at Holy Mass the previous Sunday, The Very Rev. Father Daniel Louh praised this annual event held by us and asked that other societies within the church also started caring for the sick, old and needy within their own communities. St Vincent de Paul Society also added ten food parcels to our collection. Here we see pictures of a Sister and Junior during the bagging of the parcels.

BEHEADING OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST

The beheading of St. John the Baptist was hosted by Queen of Peace Commandery with Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Samuel Agbeme, SMA and co-celebrated by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Andoh, SMA.

Commanderies present were, St. John the Evangelist, Adenta; St. Thomas More, Achimota; Our lady of Assumption, New Achimota.

In a welcoming address by the host President, Worthy Bro. James Ndor Klu asked brothers and sisters not to fear to join the ranks of the dead.

In a homily by Rev. Fr. Samuel Agbeme, he reiterated the need for members of the Order to love one another.

Major Vincent Seshie, the 4th Battalion Commander in a closing remark was impressed with the attendance.

After the Mass there was refreshment in the school.

COMMISSIONING OF SISTERS INTO THE QUEEN OF PEACE LADIES AUX 510

On the 8th August 2009 at the Queen of Peace School, 12 Sisters were commissioned into the Auxiliary. In attendance was Rev Fr Moses Chileshe (An assistant priest of Queen of Peace Parish) who delivered the homily. Also present was the Deputy Organizer Noble Sis Paula Ledi. One newly commissioned sister, received her larnyard.

7th Biennial Accra Grand Convention 2009

Participants from Queen of Peace attended the 7th Biennial Accra Grand Convention from 22nd to 27th July 2009 in Koforidua, Ghana. The theme for the Convention was Renewing the Spirit of Brotherhood and Sisterhood –The Joy of Living In Christ.
