7TH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The 7th of May was the 7th Anniversary of Queen of Peace Commandery and Auxiliary and on the 13th, a Thanksgiving Mass was held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, an outstation of the Queen of Peace Parish.  The main celebrant was our Parish Priest, Rev. Father Charles Owusu Ansah.  The Homily talked about the different kinds of love, namely Utilitarian Love, Romantic Love, Democratic Love, Humanitarian Love and Christian Love.  He also mentioned how love can affect us and some of the results of: the three types of love, namely:
1)Not to love and not be love which is the  worst of all feelings for a human being,
2) to love but not to be loved in return which is a painful experience for the one not loved in return
3) to love and be loved in return which was the happiest and best situation to be in.
 He also talked about keeping love alive in marriage for there to be happiness.

 He blessed the new military uniforms of 3 Brothers and after they presented themselves in full military regalia, he blessed them and all the other newly initiated brothers and sisters of 2012.
After Mass, the Commandery and auxiliary made a presentation of cash to the Church which was received by the Church Chairman.  He had given a very relevant and encouraging welcome address when we arrived and was happy with the turnout of members. The Cadets and Juniors gave a military display to the congregation on the Church park. We later convened at Monrose Guest House for socialisation.

NEW BROTHERS INITIATED INTO COMMANDERY #604

  Ten Aspirants were initiated into the Noble Order of Knights of St. John International by the Queen of Peace Commandery #604 Madina on 1st May 2012 among whom were Philip Agama, Dennis Opoku, Albert Adjeyi, Joseph Adelmar and Benjamin Ativui who were promoted from the Queen of Peace Cadet Commandery #604, Madina.

The rest were William Gembar, Teiko Saviour, Jacob Folivi, Kojo Hayford and Houkpe Parfait (an SMA Seminarian from Central African Republic now going through his Pastoral Experience at Queen of Peace Parish, Madina). With his initiation, the gate to Central African Republic is open to the Noble Order to expand its tentacles

LENTEN RETREAT

QUEEN OF PEACE ATTENDED THE JOINT LENTEN RETREAT AT ACCRA ARCHDIOCESAN  YOUTH CENTER, LASHIBI  ON SATURDAY 24^TH MARCH 2012

NEW SISTERS INITIATED INTO AUXILIARY #510

On the 11th February 2012, 12 newly initiated Sisters joined, Aux #510.  Rev. Sister Gertrude Ahegbebu was initiated a month earlier.  We wish them all the best and welcome them into the Noble Order.  Here we see them with Officers, the Deputy Organiser, Noble Sister Paula Ledi and Rev. Father Alphonse who gave a befitting Spiritual Reflection.

Thanksgiving Mass for New Officers of Cadet Commandery#604 Madina

On the 5th February 2012 newly elected officers of the Cadet Commandery were installed.  On the 12th February there was presentation to the congregation and blessing by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Charles Owusu Ansah at a Thanksgiving Mass.  We see some pictures of the joyful occasion.  Sisters of the Junior Auxiliary #143 were there to support them.

Grand President's Thanksgiving Mass

The Grand President of Accra Grand, Noble Sister Eugenia Ekua Enyimayew celebrated her installation into office with a Thanksgiving Mass and Reception held on Sunday 16th October 2011 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Sakumono. Here we see three Queen of Peace Officers celebrating with the Grand President and her husband.

2nd Sunday in Advent - We Remember St. John the Baptist

Brothers and Sisters of Madina have set aside the 2nd Sunday in Advent as a special day.  Here we see members after Holy Mass with their Parish Priest, Rev Father Charles Owusu-Ansah and Mrs Nancy Campbell from the United States of America

New Juniors Initiated

On the 6th of November 2011, 23 young ladies were initiated into the Junior Auxiliary #143.  Their President,  Jnr Sister Rosalyn  Paintsil was assisted by two priests, The Deputy Organiser, Sister Sabina Armah, The District Directress, Sister Marcia Koranteng, their Directress Sister Faustina Kodjo, the President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Sister Veronica Jackson and a number of senior Sisters witnessed the joyous event.

Fallen Sister laid to rest

Sister Janet Yaa Ansah was laid to rest peacefully on the 29th October 2011.  The burial Mass was held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  She was interred at the Shiashie Cemetary, East Legon, Accra.  Brothers and Sisters came in their numbers to pay their last respects.

Sympathies

The Respected President of the Queen of Peace Junior Auxiliary #143, Junior Sister Roselyn Paintsil lost her father last month, he has since been buried. Mr. Paintsil was a catechist in our Parish. We mourn with her and her family and pray that they be comforted in their time of sorrow.

Goodbye Rev Father Lt. Guy Amedee

The spiritual Director of Battalion 4 and Queen of Peace Commandery #604 and Ladies Auxiliary #510 attended the farewell Mass of Rev Father Lt. Guy Amedee SMA, who has been transferred to Canada.  There was a full military turnout at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he was the Parish Priest. In  the top two pictures we see  the Auxiliary and Commandery making a presentation to him and in the bottom picture we see Battalion 4 making their presentation of a beautiful plaque.  Goodbye Father and thank you for all you have done for us.

Celebration of 86 years

One of our Senior Knights, Brother Constance Senoo, seen here in white, celebrated his 86th Birthday on the 3rd September 2011. He celebrated his thanksgiving Mass on the 4th September 2011 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Brothers and Sisters joined him on this special day. Happy Birthday, to our mentor, adviser, guide and teacher.

National Health Cards Donated to Needy

On Sunday 4Th September 2011 the Respected President of Auxiliary # 510, Sister Veronica Jackson presented fully paid up National Health Insurance Cards to 15 needy members of the Church. Here we see her with her fellow Officers making the presentation to one of the recipients.

The Feast of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist 29th August 2011

Brothers and Sisters of Queen of Peace Commandery #604, Aux #510, Cadet Commandery # 510 and Junior Auxiliary #143 celebrated Holy Mass on the actual Feast Day, the 29th August, 2011 at 7pm. Rev. Father Nimorious, also a Brother was the Celebrant. Here we see pictures of the remembrance day. In the Homily we were reminded that our Patron Saint was a man of courage and strength and he did not fear speaking the truth even if it cost him his life. We were asked to emulate this great man and Saint by always telling the truth and living in humility and faithfulness. Bidding prayers were said for our departed Brothers and Sisters who have joined the ranks of the dead. A beautiful collection of offertory items were presented to the Altar.

Birthday Presentation

On the 6th of August 2011, we presented a Birthday gift to Sister Prudence Danku, our Third Trustee who clocked 60 this year. As part of our by-laws all Sisters who celebrate their 60th birthday are presented with a gift from the Auxiliary. The presentation was made by Sisters who were over the age of 60. Here we see Sister Danku being presented with her gift by the Past President Sister Felicia Klu, supported by Noble Sister Maud Asamoah, Noble Sister Susanna Mahama, and Noble Sister Cecilia Wilson

2010-2012 OFFICERS AT WORKSHOP

On the 19th February 2011, Officers of Queen of Peace attended a Leadership Workshop, themed "Effective Leadership, Team-Building and Communication" organised by District 4 under the direction of Sister Felicia Klu, The District 4 President and Past President of Queen of Peace Aux #510. The workshop was held at the University of Ghana, Legon (Noguchi Medical Research Institute Conference Room). The main resource person was Dr. Jerome Awortwe-Abban, Deputy Director of the Management, Development and Productivity Institute.

Accra Grand 8th Bienniel Convention held on the 6th -10th July 2011

Queen of Peace Aux #510 sent 4 delegates to the Convention in 2011. The Convention was a success and apart from the business sessions there was much to do during the social/entertainment sessions. We also had Delegates from Commandery #604.  Cadet Commandery #604 and Junior Auxiliary#143 were also present seen here together with their Assistant Cadet Organiser and Junior Auxiliary Directress

6th Anniversary

The 6th Anniversary was celebrated with a low key event. Brothers and Sisters turned out before Holy Mass held at the Parish on the 15th May 2011. Present at the event was Col William Adjei, the Commander of the 3rd District Commandery. The newly initiated Sisters and Brothers were blessed and presented to the Church. Two Brothers had their new military uniforms blessed at the Altar by The Very Rev. Father Daniel Louh, the Parish Priest. After the Mass we gathered with some special invited guests for light refreshment.
