MORE EVENTS IN 2007 - Charitable Works

On the 3rd Friday of December 2007, the Sisters provided a Christmas hamper to the old and sick who were normally visited by the Parish Priests for the monthly communion and prayer visits. In all gifts for 82 parishioners were provided and the feed back from the Priests and assistants was that the elderly and sick were both surprised and pleased by this gift of Christmas. We had decided that Charity began at home and this was why we unanimously decided to have this day of giving. We will always be ready to help those in need in our community with the Spirit of love and giving

End of Year Party - 2007

The Knights and Ladies held their end of year party on the 29th of December 2007. This was well attended, there was a joyful atmosphere with Gati Sounds providing the music and the premises provided by a Sister. It was held in an open air and environmentally friendly place with peacocks and wild birds around. The programme ended successfully.

New Executives and Outdooring of new Batik Uniforms

On the 31st December 2007 a new group of cadets were initiated and welcomed into the Nobel Order. They had been taught and instructed by the Senior Cadets in preparation for this joyous new beginning. The following Saturday, the 5th of January which was their meeting day new cadet officers were elected and on Sunday the 6th of January 2008 a Thanksgiving Mass was held for them. This was also the opportunity for both the Cadets and Junior Auxiliary to outdoor their new Batik uniform which was a memorable occasion.(You can see from the pictures how proud and smart they were). They were all smartly dressed and gifts that were beautifully wrapped were sent as offering for the day. All who attended the Mass were impressed and proud. Later that afternoon, they had their end-of-year party which climaxed the day. There was good music, good food and a good turnout of the young ones. They were supervised by some adults and the feast was sponsored fully by Brother Prince and Sister Margaret Banyerah at their residence. A big THANK YOU to them. All left the party in good spirits and some even did not want the day to end. We thank the Lord for his protection and presence on all the days.

May 2006 -The Jubilee Cross

THE JUBILEE CROSS of Pope John Paul II

HOW THE QUEEN OF PEACE CADET COMMANDERY GOT INVOLVED

For the occasion of the 1st Anniversary celebration of the Queen of Peace Commandery Ladies Auxiliary, Cadets and Juniors, the cadets were tasked to put up a drill demonstration on the anniversary day, the 7th May 2006.

As part of our preparation towards the day, drill practice was organized for both the cadets and the juniors. The drill practice covered a period of a month. As is normal practice, the technical dress rehearsal is done on the eve of any occasion.

On the 6th of May, at 4.00 p.m. when things were getting intensely hot on the rehearsal ground, a gentleman appeared before the cadet commander – Bro Bernard Jantuh, to pass some comments on what he had seen over the minutes he had been watching as practice. After making his comments and advising us, the gentleman left but apparently he stood somewhere and was still observing us. The team rehearsed the formation of the cross during the drill.

The gentleman re-appeared and asked to see the team leader. The president, Worthy Brother Michael Carbonu was introduced to him and he said that after observing our performance he would like to select us to be the group that received the Jubilee Cross when it arrived at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra to be conveyed to the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra and , also when it was sent to Queen of Peace Church, Madina. Our President assured the gentleman that we were ready to perform that duty.

Approval of the Cadet Organizer was requested and he in turn informed the Senior Knights and Ladies. A link was made between the Cadet Organizer, Brother Joseph Obeng, Brother Klu and some Cadets

On the 20th May 2006 the Cross finally arrived and even though it began to drizzle and rain we held our last dress rehearsal with great anticipation in the rain. As you can see from the pictures the Cadets performed beautifully and were immaculately turned out. We followed the cross across town and at 7pm it finally arrived at our Parish.

We are honoured to have been chosen to take the leading role in this task especially when there were 11 other Commanderies in the Accra Archdiocese who were older and more experienced than us. This life time experience fell on the Queen of Peace Cadet Commandery and Juniors Auxiliary.

I think we have a moral obligation and the good course to always commemorate this day annually by praying one mystery of the Rosary in appreciation to the Almighty God. This was the one event that crowned being a Cadet, to protect and guard the Holy Cross and those who missed this have missed a lot.

It would be shear ingratitude to overlook thanking those who contributed to the memorable achievement. Our first thanks go to Thywill Cudjoe Kuddesesey, the Cadet Organizer Snr Bro Obeng and the Drill Team who are listed below.
